Dilophosaurus is an unreleased animal in Carnivores: Dinosaur Hunter. There are files for a model, texture, sound files and animations for it in the game's files, but Tatem Games have not announced its inclusion or release yet.

History[]

The Dilophosaurus design was created by Brian Oyster[1], the winner the "Dinosaur Drawing Contest"[2] that the Carnivores Facebook page had hosted and was slated to be added into the game. However, despite finding a winner, the page would later contradict itself in claiming they could not pick a winner that would fit in the game[3], though its assets would soon be found within the game's files.

The textures would be radically different from Brian Oyster's design boasting much lighter green and teal colors.

Later on, after Carnivores: Dinosaur Hunter received an update that gave almost all the Tatem-created dinosaurs textures that were more consistent to the original games, the Dilophosaurus would also be given these new textures now being more on par with Brian Oyster's art though it has yet to be fully added in-game.

Trivia[]

  • Dilophosaurus is so far the only confirmed animal for Carnivores: Dinosaur Hunter that hasn't been released yet.
  • Strangely, the sound files of Dilophosaurus that are found in the game files are copied from the Ceratosaurus. This will most likely be changed if Dilophosaurus is properly released.
  • Carnivores modders have been able to extract the Dilophosaurus from the game files to reveal what the animal would look like[4].
