Observer Mode as it appears in Carnivores Ice Age

Observer Mode is a special type of hunting experience developed by DinoHunt Corp.. It allows hunters to learn as much about their targets' behavior as possible. It is also possibly used by harmless tourists visiting the planet on safari.

Differences From Hunt Mode[]

  • The hunter becomes almost undetectable by dinosaurs.
  • No weapons, besides the camera (which isn't a weapon, anyways) may be used.
  • Relocation is immediate.
  • Escaping is immediate.
  • Restarting won't summon "Are you sure you want to restart? All points and trophies will be lost!"

Hunters can still be killed by water or lava, though.

Mobile Ports[]

In the mobile ports, observer mode has been entirely reworked. Now in observer mode:

  • Animals won't attack you.
  • Escape is instant.
  • Herbivores will not be spooked.
  • Relocate is the same as it is in hunt mode.
  • No weapons except the camera and binoculars.

Flaws[]

Observer Mode does have its flaws though. At very, very close range, most herbivores will detect the hunter and flee, while the ceratopsian dinosaurs are able to kill the hunter if he gets too close. In later years, Observer Mode becomes less and less reliable, culminating with all Ice Age animals (excluding the Diatryma) being able to detect the hunter at a very close range and killing him if he gets too close.
